90 minutes from OR Tambo – on good roads, spotless and peaceful.
Magnificent maroela, fig, euphorbia, laventel koorsbessie bossies and many more – a tree lovers paradise – had me digging deeply through my memory boxes for the beautiful Latin names of our South African bushveld plants. I never saw one non-indigenous tree; a noteworthy achievement by the caretakers of this peace of heaven.
Clearly signposted walks, studded with tracks of impala, giraffe, zebra and more made our 6km round trip to Mike’s dam an absolute pleasure.
The huge swimming pool, children’s play area and well stocked shop ensure you want for nothing during your stay.
The ablution block consisted of four private toilet/shower units and a wash-up area. A broom and mop are supplied to keep your bathroom clean – a nice touch.
We had a private campsite lit brightly by the full moon and serenaded by nightjars calling for deliverance through the night.
Early morning challenges by rutting impala highlighted the turning season and sparked thoughts of returning later in the year to enjoy a hot tub on our site in the chill of winter.
