Sitting comfortably at home reading Facebook updates on the terrific amounts of water flowing into the Vaal dam our interest was peaked by reports of the river water flow increasing through the Augrabies Falls. Situated on the Orange River – the amount of water in the river fluctuates widely.

The Orange River feeds a staggering 580 farmers producing world class table grapes. The majority of which are exported to Europe and the UK.

A quick decision was made to pack our remarkable Tripper and head through our remarkable land to witness the remarkable thunder of water through the gorge

The walkways are in great nik and, apart from clearly marked portions that were damaged during the 2011 floods, a pleasure to walk on.

Textured flora, klipspringer and dassies, amazingly deep blue skies and glowing quiver trees completed the experience
